Bold and Bizarre Games Bulletin | September 2025
You've come hungry for niche and bewildering games, haven't you, and we're happy to oblige. We have a fine selection of interactive treats for your perusal today, I hope you're ready.
#1 Mortal Sin
Out Now, Steam | Nikola Todorovic
Mortal Sin has been in Early Access for a while, so perhaps you've come across it already, but at the end of August it transitioned into it's 1.0 form, and is all the more glorious for it. The game is a brash first-person roguelike, with brutal melee combat punctuated with dismembered limbs and a firework display of blood. Despite the fantasy tropes, there's a really unhinged madness to it all, and any substantial time with the game then requires a nice little lie down afterwards.
#2 Chark
Demo Out Now, Itch.io | protzz
Ok, so Chark definitely wears its Balatro inspiration on its sleeves, but the core mechanical hook here is fiendishly addictive. Choosing piece cards which apply that piece's move-range to other pieces on the board, allowing for very satisfying deviations from the core Chess rule-set. Even in this demo form with limited cards/effects, its clear that Chark has potential for greatness. One to keep an eye firmly on...
#3 Gloomy Eyes
Out Now, Steam | Atlas V, Be Revolution Gaming, 3Dar, Fishing Cactus, ARTE France
Gloomy Eyes describes itself as cosy-horror. And while 'cosy' is the antithesis of what we like to dial into round here, there is a compelling strangeness to Gloomy Eyes that justifies its residence in our Bulletin. With character-switching between the two leads and a slew of corresponding puzzles playing out across the game's Burton-esque environments, there's a quiet eeriness to the game that really lands.
#4 No, I’m Not A Human
Out Now, Steam | Trioskaz, Critical Reflex
Critical Reflex are at it again, finding and signing the dankest, most depraved games out there. No, I'm Not A Human is a game about answering the door. Some of the visitors you'll get are more sinister than others, and your choice whether to let them in or not will define how your experiences with the game might play out. No, I'm Not A Human isn't a form of horror you might expect or be familiar with, but is all the more unsettling for it.
#5 Mars Attracts
Early Access Out Now, Steam | Outlier
I think this might be the first licensed game that's appeared in one of these Bulletins, you know. It's bizarre because it's just not an IP you'd expect to see in 2025, and what a marriage of IP and game/genre this is! The Early Access release of Mars Attracts (great name, btw) has been seeing rave reviews, which is unexpectedly delightful. There's a growing trend of decent, unlikely licensed works in the indie space, and I'm here for it.
Reminder! Pantaloon's partnered games for September is: Future Racer 2000
ICYMI, this month we've partnered with Tim Oxton to bring you Future Racer 2000 - a strange game even by our own standards.
Somebody asked me: is it a horror, narrative or racing game? And the answer to that is: yes.
If you've not told us you want a key yet, do that in either one of our emails from September, or our Welcome Email if you’re a new subscriber. We'll be dropping the game on September 25th (Primo subscribers the day before).
Ok. September done.
See you next month x
