Can you hear it? The atmospheric synths? Those glorious cymbals? The beautiful cacophony of your own creation!?
That's the sound of OFFBEAT, the new music-tycoon game from Pantaloon and Whetstone Games - a game that allows you to live out your wildest fantasies as a musician and producer - except your equipment and instruments are children's toys, garden ornaments and kitchen utensils.
Plugging these unconventional synthesisers into the sequencer, you’re able to compose and arrange tracks in an intuitive way, as you respond to briefs from various patrons who need music from your growing studio.
On top of this, you'll have the means to publish your own music directly from the game. Just like we have, with the release of our first single under the newly formed Pantaloon Records, and OFFBEAT: Radio.

OFFBEAT isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Whetstone Games has created OFFBEAT to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio production. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.
